The Bangladesh team left the tournament after losing against Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup. Before this important match, the heat spread in the dressing room of both teams. That heat was stopped in the war of words of former cricketers.

Sri Lankan captain Dasun Shanaka made a speech disparaging Bangladesh after the loss to Afghanistan. A war of words began. At one point, Bangladesh team director Sujan also joined it. He was countered by Lankan batting great Mahela Jayawardene. Although the war of words was unresolved, Sri Lanka won on the field, but still the anger did not end. Jayawardene punched Bangladesh after the Asia Cup Super Four was confirmed with a breathtaking victory.
